Safety Guidelines

Health and safety protocols for all participants

The safety and well-being of all participants is the top priority of the Vineland Basketball Association. These guidelines have been established to create a safe environment for players, coaches, officials, and spectators.

Facility Safety

All facilities will be inspected before use to ensure they are free from hazards.

Courts will be clean and dry before play begins.

Baskets, backboards, and padding will be checked regularly for stability and proper function.

Emergency exits will remain clear and accessible at all times.

First aid kits will be available at all facilities during games and practices.

Player Safety

Players must wear appropriate basketball shoes with non-marking soles.

No jewelry, watches, or other accessories may be worn during games or practices.

Players with injuries requiring medical attention must provide a doctor's clearance before returning to play.

Players should bring their own water bottles and stay properly hydrated.

Proper warm-up and cool-down periods will be included in all practices and before games.

Injury Prevention and Response

All coaches are required to be certified in basic first aid and CPR.

An incident report must be completed for all injuries requiring medical attention.

In case of serious injury, coaches will contact emergency services immediately and then notify parents/guardians.

Players showing signs of concussion will be removed from play immediately and not allowed to return without medical clearance.

The league will follow all return-to-play protocols for injured players as directed by medical professionals.

Weather and Environmental Safety

Games and practices will be postponed or canceled in case of severe weather conditions.

Indoor facilities will maintain proper ventilation and temperature control.

In case of power outage, emergency protocols will be followed to safely evacuate the facility if necessary.

Air quality will be monitored, and outdoor activities will be modified or canceled when air quality is poor.

Health Protocols

Players, coaches, and spectators should stay home if they are feeling ill.

Hand sanitizer will be available at all facilities.

Shared equipment will be cleaned regularly.

The league will follow all local and state health department guidelines regarding communicable diseases.

Special health accommodations can be made for players with medical conditions or disabilities.
